Become part of a growing program in Gynecology/Oncology at UCLA Health. You will be a key person in developing the program and having an impact patient care!

The Nurse Practitioner III Supervisor of UCLA's Gynecologic Oncology Program oversees clinical activities under the direction of the Director of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology and Vice Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology; this position requires an advanced level of expertise and overall understanding of gynecologic oncology patients.

The NP functions in an interdependent role by implementing the appropriate 'standardized procedures' (SP). By using the SPs the NP is able to change treatment regimen after observing signs and symptoms of illness, reactions to treatment, general behavior and physical condition, and determine if they are abnormal findings (Ca Nursing Practice Act, subsection(b) of Section 2725).



Certification in area of specialty: National NP certification required in specialty. Oncology Certified Nurse, recommended.DEA, NP required. BLS required
Current California RN and NP; MSN with a Nurse Practitioner Specialty. Acute Care NP preferred.
       Minimum 2 years required.
General knowledge of principles of management of Gynecologic Oncology population
Detailed knowledge of the University's Human Subject Protection Committee.

Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients and their families,
       Interdepartmental university departments and other affiliated
Ability to make projections about future and current personnel and other costs.
Ability to extemporaneously explain any facet of a study to nursing staff.
Skill in using PC word processing and spreadsheet software, and knowledge of Medical Center computing systems
Detailed knowledge of principles of research; experience in clinical trials

Ability to provide a leadership style that demonstrates the principles of
time management, conflict resolution, problem-solving and delegation.
Demonstrated by previous experience (at least 2 years):
1) An ability and experience to act as an effective teacher in a clinical setting. 
2)  Ability to interface effectively with patients and their families. 
3)  Ability to interface with Medical staff and Nursing staff. 
4)  Ability to teach about gynecologic oncology, treatments and medical management issues.
5) Ability to give presentation in areas of expertise, patient care and act as a liaison with nursing staff,      team physicians, referring physicians, patients and their family
